Women's Art Prize Tasmania 2020 - Launceston exhibition cancelled

Dear Supporters,

We hope this email finds everyone safe and well. As you are probably all aware, the global spread of COVID-19 is having a serious impact upon the arts sector and our very way of life.

We are writing to let you know that the Women’s Art Prize Tasmania Committee met yesterday and decided that cancellation of the Launceston exhibition was our only choice, given the current situation. The health and safety of our artists, project staff and you, our supporters, are our current key priorities.

We will be constantly monitoring the situation and if the opportunity arises to hold the Launceston exhibition at another time when it is safe, we will seize it.

The Burnie and Hobart shows are scheduled to go ahead given they are in October and December. We are hopeful that circumstances may have changed by then, however we will remain vigilant and provide you all with regular updates.

In regards to judging, we firmly believe that this can not be conducted online. We will need to wait until such a time that the works are installed before judging can commence.

We will keep you updated with any further news or changes. We are taking the situation one day at a time right now. We appreciate your patience and are truly saddened to have to make this decision.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Best regards,

The Women’s Art Prize Tasmania Committee
